Supporting the British Army's Dismounted Data System: MCL selected to supply FalCom tactical audio equipment
21 April 2026

Following the award of the £86 million Dismounted Data System (DDS) contract to BlackTree Technologies by the MoD, MCL has been appointed to supply tactical audio components as part of the wider programme.
Working together with our tactical communications partner FalCom, we will be supplying multi-function control units and specialist cabling that form part of the DDS equipment suite. MCL's contribution to the programme is valued at over £5 million.
FalCom provides integrated sensory reception and communication solutions for military, special operations, law enforcement and security personnel, with products designed to provide situational awareness and hearing protection in demanding operational environments — conditions relevant to British Army operations as DDS begins its rollout later this year.
Claire King, Managing Director of Marlborough Communications Limited, said:
“Being part of the DDS programme reflects the strength of our partnership with FalCom and the trust that has been placed in us as a reliable service provider within the UK defence supply chain. FalCom's technology is purpose-built for the environments soldiers operate in, and we’re glad to be supporting its integration into a significant British Army programme.”
The DDS programme is expected to begin reaching British soldiers from September 2026, with full delivery expected by 2027. It supports the Chief of the General Staff's ambition to double British Army lethality by 2027 and forms part of the government's wider commitment to modernise tactical networks and increase defence spending to 2.6% of GDP from 2027.
